Lundi Love: Kelvin’s Piano Bar in Abbeville

This week, Mustang 107.1 is showing some love for Kelvin’s Piano Bar in Abbeville. It’s a swanky enchanting piano bar in the historic part of downtown Abbeville. As soon as you walk you in you feel like you have just escaped the regular world. There is a huge piano in the front often occupied by local musicians. Lance Dubroc is one of the artists known to frequent this tiny little cafe.

The cafe was once an appliance shop in the early 1900s. In fact, the original sign is still hanging in the front. The shop was originally called “Kelvinator” so the new owners  decided to bring some of that history to this modern-day cafe by naming the new place, “Kelvin.”

I like the energy in this cafe. I felt so relaxed and comfortable.  The server was friendly and helpful. There was not a long wait for the food. I ordered a cheesy spicy bacon burger. Although I was conflicted. Kelvin’s Piano Bar offers a daily special and on this particular day, the daily plate lunch featured a pork chop with rice and gravy. I really wanted to try the daily special but I was also craving a burger so I went with the burger.

After the meal, the owner stopped by and I asked, “Is this place haunted?”

I asked her this question because it just seems like all old-buildings are haunted. She looked at me and smiled. She said that she does not believe in ghosts but there have been some weird things that have happened in the past. Now luckily for her sake, nothing paranormal has happened in a long time. But she said there were times when bar stools shifted or fell down.

Haunted or not, I seriously love this cafe. It has to be even more enchanting when a local musician is playing music. There are lots of huge televisions all around so it is a good place to relax, meet up with friends and watch the game. It’s a local place and for this reason, we are showing some love!
