Vol 35: Modern Sounds of Country / The Marshall Tucker Band

Ray Charles – Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music

Considered a landmark album in American music, Modern Sounds in Country and Western was released in 1962 and solidified Ray Charles’ stardom within the masses of America. This album departed from Charles’ past sounds deviating away from R&B and Blues to give his own spin on country music of the time. The album features classic hits such as “Bye Bye Love,” “You Don’t Know Me,” “Half as Much,” “I Can’t Stop Loving You,” and “Hey, Good Lookin.”

The Marshall Tucker Band – The Marshall Tucker Band

Released in 1973, the debut self-titled album by the The Marshall Tucker Band. The album garnered critical acclaim and helped pen down the sound that the band was ultimately looking for. Not only is the self-titled album considered a country classic but it is also the quintessential sound of American Southern Rock. It features hits such as “Take the Highway,” “Can’t You See,” and “Ramblin.”
