The Moody Blues – In Search of the Lost Chord

The Moody Blues’ third studio album, In Search of the Lost Chord, was released in 1968 under the Deram label. In Search of the Lost Chord dips its sound into a host of themes such as world exploration, philosophy, lost love, spiritual development, knowledge, higher consciousness, imagination, and space exploration. Some of these themes made lasting impact on the band in their following albums. In Search of the Lost Chord was widely received and peaked at number 5 in the UK as well as 23 across the pond in the US. Some hit songs include: “Ride My See-Saw,” “Dr. Livingstone, I Presume,” “House of Four Doors,” “Legend of a Mind,” “Voices in the Sky,” “The Best Way to Travel,” “Visions of Paradise,” “The Actor,” “The Word,” and “Om.”

Jeff Back – Truth

Jeff Beck’s debut album Truth was released in 1968 and introduced star talents to the world such as Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood. Often regarded as a seminal work of heavy metal, Truth has inspired many bands to blend blues towards a hard rock approach. Upon release Truth peaked at 15 on the Billboard 200 in the US and showcases a host of hit songs such as: “Shapes of Things,” “Morning Dew,” “You Shook Me,” “Ol’ Man River,” “Greensleeves,” “Beck’s Bolero,” and “I Ain’t Superstitious.”
