T-Coon’s Restaurant Is Authentic Louisiana Food

T-Coon’s Restaurant is a local Louisiana cafe. It is located at the corner of Pinhook and Kaliste Saloom in Lafayette. It opens at 5:00 am and even at that time there are already vehicles in the parking lot. I like T-Coon’s because it is authentic. The first time I ate over there was for breakfast. I had grits, eggs, and sausage. It reminded me of my Maw-maw’s cooking. The sausage was real smoked sausage links.  And of my favorite part of dining at this facility is the prices. It is reasonably priced. I have no idea why some local places are so overpriced with little portions.

My younger sister, Jessica, lives in Iowa. She visits Louisiana with her family about twice a year or so. And every visit has to include a meal at T-Coon’s Restaurant. She absolutely loves it.  I asked her why does she prefer this particular restaurant over all the other places in Lafayette. She said she likes (and craves) T-Coon’s because it is authentically Louisiana. She said the meals taste homemade. She likes the coffee that they serve and the service is good.

My son and I went to T-Coon’s this weekend. When you walk in, someone greets you and since we were not ordering breakfast, they told us to go in the cafeteria-style line. We each grabbed a tray and a glass of water. My son already knew he wanted the fried-chicken and french fries. I decided to try something on the “Skinny-Fat” menu. The guy behind the counter suggested the grain-free fried chicken so I decided to give it a try. It came with three sides so I picked broccoli, green beans, and carrots. We both enjoyed our dishes. The whole place definitely has that old-fashioned home-style hometown atmosphere.

If it has been a while, since you have visited T-Coon’s Restaurant, go and pay a visit. It is delicious and satisfying. Plus, it’s local and the real deal. It’s real Louisiana cuisine.
