Madonna – Madonna

Madonna’s debut self-titled album Madonna was released in 1983 and was an instant commercial success. Madonna peaked at number 8 on the Billboard 200 and reached the top ten in a host of countries including Australia, France, Netherlands, New Zealand, Sweden, and the UK. Madonna captured the sound of dance-pop for generations afterwords and would ultimately become a five-time platinum certified work by the RIAA in the US. The album would go on to sell over ten million copies worldwide. Madonna showcases the first set of hits that put Madonna the artist on a global map such as: “Lucky Star,” “Borderline,” “Burning Up,” “Holiday,” “Think of Me,” and “Everybody.”

Stevie Wonder – Innervisions

Stevie Wonder’s 16th studio album Innervisions was released in 1973. The album is largely considered a landmark recording of his “classical period” and most notably showcased Wonder’s talents as a musician considering that most of the album’s instrumentation was played by Wonder himself. The album encompasses a wide range of themes and issues ranging from drug abuse, inequality and systemic racism, love, and a scathing review of former US President Richard Nixon. Innervisions hosts a handful of Stevie Wonder hits including: “Living for the City,” “Golden Lady,” “Higher Ground,” “All in Love Is Fair,” “Don’t You Worry ’bout a Thing,” and “He’s Misstra Know-It-All.”
