Early Home Runs Key in Ole Miss Win Over LSU

The Ole Miss Rebels took advantage of a poor start from Eric Walker en route to a 5-1 win over the LSU Tigers on Saturday night.

How It Happened:

Thomas Dillard got things going for Ole Miss in the second inning with a leadoff solo home run. Kevin Graham quickly made it a 4-0 ballgame with a three-run bomb in the fifth. The Tigers had a big opportunity to respond with the bases loaded in the bottom frame, but couldn’t cash in on it.

LSU finally got on the board in the bottom of the fifth off an Antoine Duplantis RBI single, but it wouldn’t be enough as the Ole Miss pitching staff kept them in check to even up the series.

Big Number: 7

It was a case of missed opportunities on Saturday with both teams strand in seven runners on base. While the number seems low, the fact that four of the Rebels five runs came courtesy of the long ball showed off LSU’s inadequacies.

Player of the Game: Kevin Graham

Kevin Graham was the x-factor in a relatively uninteresting ballgame with that three-run jack being a bit reason why they were able to even up the series.

Next Up: Sunday vs Ole Miss; First Pitch at 2:30 pm
