A robotics team from Lafayette has won a prestigious award, and will now compete on an international level. Team 3616 has been awarded the FIRST (For Inspirations and Recognition of Science and Technology) Impact award. They competed against teams from Louisiana, Florida, Mississippi, Arkansas, California, Missouri, and Mexico.
The award qualifies them to compete in the upcoming world Championship at the end of April. About 400 teams from 20 countries will compete in Houston April 19th – 22nd.
Team 3616 has been in existence for 12 years now. It’s comprised mainly of area public school students.
