With the heavy rainfall that is expected in Acadiana this week, flooding is a concern. Therefore, residents in Lafayette and St Landry Parish have the opportunity to get sandbags.
Sandbags are available at the following locations from our friends at KADN News15:
ST. LANDRY PARISH:
- St. Landry Parish Government is issuing sandbags at the Yambilee Building (1939 West Landry Street, Opelousas) until 4:30 p.m. as the parish anticipates heavy rainfall this week from the remnants of Beryl.
LAFAYETTE PARISH:
- As rain bands associated with Hurricane Beryl spread over the region Monday and Tuesday, Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) reminds residents that sandbags are available in Lafayette Parish. All locations are self-bagging, and residents must bring their own shovels and manpower. Sandbag locations remain accessible 24 hours a day, but recommended usage is advised within daylight hours (currently between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.).
- Sandbag Locations:
- North District site at 400 Dugas Road (located off North University Avenue)
- Picard Park at 130 Park Lane
- Bags Per Household:
- Please limit sandbags to four bags per exterior door.
- Maximum of 20 sandbags per household permitted.
