Did you see Bob Seger last night in Baton Rouge?

Bob Seger played Baton Rouge last evening as part of his Farewell Tour … I did not attend, but the reviews were great, and the people that I have spoken to that did attend loved it.  I am not surprised … I have seen hundreds of concerts … I have seen all of the greats except The Beatles … There has not been a performer that lays is all out during a performance like Bob Seger.  Some of my favorite performers in concert have been – The Who, Bruce Springsteen, Eagles, Yes – none are any better than Seger in concert.  I can describe it in two words – SEGER ROCKS!

I have seen Seger about 30 times.  I was at both concerts at  Cobo Arena when he recorded “Live Bullet.”  When you hear the screaming when he says “You just might end up on an album…” I was one  of the screamers – I like to joke that I am on an album.  But before ‘Live Bullet’ was recorded Bob Seger opened for Bachman Turner Overdrive in Detroit – That happened October 11, 1974 – Eleven months before the ‘Live Bullet’ shows … BTO was very popular in Detroit, being from the Windsor area … BTO was promoting their Not Fragile album – this lp features ‘Roll On Down The Highway’ and ‘You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet’ – both tunes were being played frequently on the Motor City Rock Stations …

The show was a sell-out – Seger opened and totally rocked the Cobo  Arena … It was pretty much the same show that ‘Live Bullet’ became, he was wrapping up his ‘Seger Seven  Tour’ (side note – Great, Great lp.) and was just a few months shy of releasing ‘Beautiful Loser’ … BTO came out and did all of their hits and did a good job with the new tunes from the current lp … but for me, it was anti-climatic … They just did not rock it like Seger.

If you have not seen Seger … you have missed it.  Again … SEGER ROCKS!  And if you saw him last night or have plans to …  Check out the price of the ticket above …. Today the show is going to cost over $200 per ticket!  Makes that $6.50 price look pretty good ….
