The Doors
The Doors is the debut studio album of the American rock band out of Los Angeles. It was released on January 4, 1967. Since its release, the record has been often regarded as one of the greatest debut albums of all time. The album and the long version of “Light My Fire” have been inducted into the Grammy Hall Of Fame. The Doors was a tremendous debut LP and considered as the ‘greatest debuts’ by many critics. Side one included the rocking “Break On Through” and the long version of “Light My Fire,” however, it included two of my favorite deep cuts from The Doors … “Soul Kitchen” and “Alabama Song.”
Side two begins with “Back Door Man” and concludes with the eleven plus minute ‘The End.” The album has been considered one of the greatest of all time by many critics and publications; Rolling Stone Magazine ranked the album 42nd on its list of the ‘500 Greatest Albums of All Time’. The Doors is listed in the book ‘1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die’ …. Best Ever Albums Dot Com considers The Doors to be the 3rd best album of 1967 and the 10th best of the decade. Digital Dream Door Dot Com also ranked the album 3rd on its year end list.

Between The Buttons
Between the Buttons is the 5th British and 7th American studio album by the Rolling Stones, released this past week in 1967. This is an underrated keeper of an album; recording began in Los Angeles during the Stones 1966 American Tour and concluded in London prior to their seventh British tour. Between the Buttons, like many British long-players, differed between its UK and US versions. We will feature the UK release of the album in this week’s program, which includes “ Back Street Girl” on side one and does not include “Ruby Tuesday” on side two … it is the US version that included that single.
Between The Buttons is considered one of The Stones’ eclectic albums. As he had on Aftermath, Brian Jones included a vast array of instruments in the recording session. Jones only plays the guitar on one song. Rolling Stone Magazine ranks the album 355th on their ‘500 Greatest Albums Of All Time list. Best Ever Albums Dot Com considers Between The Buttons to be the 26th best album of 1967 and the 141st best of the decade. Digital Dream Door Dot com ranks the album 32nd on its year end list.
